Having found out that Sohei Pixel was available to take on our work, I was pretty excited to get our initial brief sent off.  Several developers and guides advise that you don’t necessarily need to get art assets at the early stages of the project – but I took the decision to work on decent assets as soon as possible.   The argument to use placeholders is perfectly valid, and in judging on the amount of projects that don’t really get off the ground it totally makes sense – however I just knew that once I saw the visual theme and style that Sohei could create, it would act as a huge source of inspiration to keep pushing!

We sent across an initial brief to create an over world tile set which included various grass, dirt and water tiles – as well as some flowers and shrubbery.  The main features for this set of work would then focus on a basic player sprite and tree!  All of which would be using a 16 x 16 pixel tile size.  The results came out a little like this…

I think you will agree that Sohei did a pretty awesome job!  Really looking forward to getting more assets done and bringing this game to life!
